A bold new voice in contemporary large ensemble jazz arrives this fall with the debut performance of The Aaron Spiers Jazz Orchestra, led by electric bassist, composer, and arranger Aaron Spiers. The performance will take place on September 11, 2026, at The Lowdown in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Originally from Australia and now based in the United States, Spiers brings a distinctive perspective to the big band tradition. Shaped by an international performing career and a deep commitment to modern, groove-driven composition. This debut performance will showcase original music from his forthcoming big band album, scheduled for release on September 4, 2026, marking a major artistic milestone.

Spiers’ writing blends contemporary jazz language with rhythmic influences drawn from his extensive background in rock and global touring. He has performed in over twenty-seven countries and appeared at major festivals including Download (UK), Reading & Leeds (UK), and Aftershock (USA), sharing stages with artists such as KISS, Aerosmith, Slash, and Deep Purple.

Alongside his performance career, Spiers has built a substantial body of work as a composer and arranger, with commissions from ensembles including the OSU big band featuring the music of Kenny Reichert, The University of Tulsa Big Band featuring the music of Nick Mancini and Count Basie.

The Aaron Spiers Jazz Orchestra represents the culmination of this diverse experience, bringing together a dynamic ensemble to present music that is both rooted in tradition and forward-looking in its sound.
